Twenty years from now…10 years mdk.digital – one heck of a ride
Since my high school times in the late 80s, I always had this dream of building and running my own company in the back of my head.
After two failed attempts in 1991 and 1996, I decided to pursue my dream (again) in 2011 and have been an #entrepreneur by heart ever since.
And as of this week, we can proudly report that mdk has its 10th anniversary!
„Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. “
In 2011, this quote has been the main “trigger” for me to go for it. And the deeper sense of this quote has been very much true ever since: What a journey this has been!
These 10 years have brought with them all the ups and downs (and ups again 😉) that you can read about in any book on #entrepreneurship: That continues development on a personal and professional level, you learn more from failures than from successes, the people that I had the pleasure to meet and those that I left (or who left me) behind during this journey, the projects, that we successfully managed, the setbacks we faced, the strong, personal relationships we built with our customers A1, drei, Magenta, mobilcom-debitel, Telefónica, Telekom and Vodafone in these years (thank you to all our colleagues for your continued trust!), the loyalty and individual strength of each team member.
For me, it was a huge step in 2011, but it has been the best decision of my professional life – mainly because I followed my dream and stuck with it also during rough times.
In hindsight, all this has been worth every moment of that journey!
Ever since I came across this quote in 2011, I have kept it to my heart – (even though, I had to learn lately, that it cannot be attributed to Mark Twain as it was falsely done back then – as it turns out, it is attributed to a book by bestselling author H. Jackson Brown, Jr. who contributes this to his mother).
However, and most importantly, the deeper sense of this quote has remained a strong guiding principle for how I look at opportunities as an entrepreneur and enjoy the moments that I create in my personal life.
So, what’s next?
First off, I will continue to keep this quote to my 💘! And as a team, we will continue to live up to our values and promises towards our customers. Thereby, we will become even stronger over time.
